For each of its brands, Reitzel makes a point of displaying the origin of its products with complete transparency in a pickle market that is still too opaque.

Retzel

An ambitious project to revive the French gherkin industry

Reitzel was a pioneer when it set about relaunching the gherkin industry in France in 2016.

Indeed, this highly demanding crop disappeared from French fields in the 1990s.

In the 2000s, when it bought two canning factories in France (Sarthe and Loir-Et-Cher), Reitzel set itself the mission of reviving the now extinct cultivation of the cucurbit in France, drawing on the know-how at work within its Indian subsidiary.

In the background: Reitzel's desire to offer, as a complement to its Indian product range, jars of gherkins 100% grown, harvested and packaged in France at affordable prices. A complex challenge that the company continues to meet: the time has come for relocation!
